I think food should always be valued at some type of high standard. Unfortunately, America seems to ignore this long forgotten passion. Food should come from a direct source and the criterion of the substances that we put into our body should be more simplified. Now, just because I preach this doesn't necessarily mean I practice it, but no, I am not a hypocrite. Starting a blog about my journey of finding the easiest way to simplify what I choose to consume is just the beginning!!!
Yesterday, January 21st, was my first attempt to NOT eat anything that had had a heartbeat at any point in it's life. I started off on the right foot, went to Starbucks, instead of fast food, ordered a veggie breakfast sandwich with egg and pepperjack cheese served on an artisan roll, AMAZING by the way, and for lunch I had a cheesy Parmesan marinara pasta from the kitchen at work, also tasted amazing.
1st Attempt: FAILED!
So today, January 22nd, I began again!
Wish me luck and hopefully tomorrow I have good news of my "no heartbeat" endeavors!

Then, I began my second shift at work, banquet serving for a wedding reception, that had "tray passing" hors d'oeuvres and I was the one that had to pass out these appetizers to the guests. The menu of tidbits that were offered was fried artichoke heart drizzled with a honey mustard glaze, blackened seared rare ahi garnished with a mango relish and last, a mini beef wellington served with a sweet red wine sauce.
I tried each hors d'oeuvre before I realized I had eaten beef :(1st Attempt: FAILED!
So today, January 22nd, I began again!
- Breakfast: Cheese and egg sandwich (which came with sausage, that I removed)
- Lunch: a piece of garlic toast
- Dinner: Well about dinner, tonight is our company holiday party and of course, I am going to try very hard to make a conscience effort NOT to eat meat. I'm taking my best friend, who is a pescatarien, to the holiday party with me and although I did not plan to have him there as my "no heartbeats" accomplice, I am glad to have his unequivocal support throughout the night. Thank You Drew!
Wish me luck and hopefully tomorrow I have good news of my "no heartbeat" endeavors!
